EFD / Enfield made this 1899P sword in May 1901, but the scabbard is older, it is a Mole made 1864 pattern scabbard. And, to be honest, the sword is worth having in any collection but the scabbard is probably worth as much as the sword; 1864P’s are exceptionally rare and this one is in exceptionally good condition. The sword has been period sharpened and there are some small period nicks (no burr, patina inside the nicks) and roughness to the forward cutting edge which indicates combat use. The sword was around for some time, having three 19H serial / rack numbers, plus several other markings as the sword was passed down. The sword knot, presumed period, has markings we have not identified but are probably those of the last regiment / service to have kept this sword.
The 33 5/8 inch blade is in good condition save for said small nicks, etc. and is firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard in very good shape. The composite grip scales show a lot of wear, especially one side. Sword knot in good condition. Scabbard in very good condition for age. The sword sheathes and draws very well.
Look, with the 1864P scabbard, this 1899P is an absolute bargain. Just was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference AG77. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1534-117x15x14 (2.798).
