They don’t come much better. Dated along the spine to June 1811 with correct inspection marks (poinçons) for Pache, Bisch and Lobstein. Bisch and Lobstein poinçons to the hilt, showing the hilt is original to the blade, not a replacement. Matching rack / serial (weapon) numbers “1035” to the hilt and scabbard, showing the scabbard is original to the sword. Single rack number not crossed out, so the sword likely stayed with the same, very experienced Cuirassier trooper until the time it was captured by the British. The original hatchet point has been spear pointed by the French regiment (done just before Waterloo to increase the piercing ability of the point). No post 1815 poinçons, no replacement 1816M hilt / guard, no later (more grip wire turns) grip as there would have been if the sword stayed in French service after Waterloo. This An XIII Napoleonic / Imperial French heavy cavalry trooper’s sword 100% is a Waterloo / 100 Days War battle / war trophy. And the original leather grip and twisted grip wire are intact and in good condition.
