Named to blade (“A H Arbuthnot”), serial number 45771 for 1915, which means it was with him as Commander of the Field Force to the Naga Hills in 1916 and Third Afghan War in 1919 (plus, likely with him when he was invalided (badly injured) commanding the Zhob Valley Field Force in 1922. The 32 3/8 inch blade in good condition but with age / some light patina, firm in the hilt. The hilt mostly good to very good. Fishskin grip and associated grip wire bindings in good condition. The leather field service scabbard aged with wear but good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
