Serial number 58412 for 1920; unfortunately a blank entry on the Wilkinson sales ledger, so no information on who once owned / held / wore this. The Royal Air Force was formed out of the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) and the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS) in 1918, so this is one of the first ever RAF swords and may well have belonged to a former RFC / RNAS ace, who / no-one knows.

The 32 1/2 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The hilt also in very good condition, as are the grip and associated twisted grip wire bindings (fishskin a little grubby in places, slight bowing gap between the grip and the back piece). The scabbard with some wear but very good for its age (it is an antique, over 100 years old). The sword sheathes and draws well.
Really scarce sword by the name in British sword making. It will only appreciate and be appreciated, just was £? (too late, now sold). Please ask for reference number AG18. Box 1346-101x19x16 (1.913).
