Etched one side of the blade to Wilkinson Sword, the obverse to Gieves Ltd, the renowned naval outfitters and main agent for Wilkinson. Serial number 58380 for 1920, so a genuine antique!
The 31 1/2 inch blade is in very good condition with very few small inert / black rust patina patches for an antique naval sword (the leather scabbards not protecting blades in damp conditions). Blade firm in the hilt. The scarcer solid basket hilt (no folding guard section) in good condition. The fishskin grip in good condition also. The grip wire bindings have a few wayward lesser strands which could probably be coerced back into where they should be for display purposes. The original sword is good but aged and a bit grubby. The scabbard is good but for some wear. The sword sheathes and draws well. The scabbard locking pin mechanism works as it should.
A good, well above average example. Well worth the was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference AG03. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1336-101x19x16 (1.896).
