Victorian Mameluke of General Sir George Balfour, sold

In very good condition, the Victorian Mameluke of General Sir George Balfour.

Harman & Co were prestigious army outfitters in Calcutta who retailed swords made by Mole & Co of Birmingham, England. Complete with shipping label addressed to "General Balfour". General Sir George Balfour KCB was a senior army officer, British politician and environmental campaigner!

The 30 7/8 inch blade is in very good condition but with a couple of patina patches, plus some wear. Blade firm in the hilt. The hilt in good order, some blue tarnish evident. The ivory grip sections are both good. The brass scabbard in good condition but for a couple of minor dings and some tarnish type small surface corrosion spots. The mameluke sheathes and draws well.

A very good mameluke in well above average condition and the former property of a very interesting general turned politician. Well worth £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference number AF66 (1167). Further / full sized pictures available upon request.
