Sales enquiries

The belt is a RNR (Royal Naval Reserve) officer's belt, the sword is not marked to the RNR but we presume it is the same officer as it came from a deceased's estate. The 1939-1945 Star, Atlantic Star, and Pacific Star medals are GRI (for India service) and the box appears to be for a "H G Martin", but we are unsure, and the H G may be the wife; you look, you decide!

The 31 1/4 inch very well grey etched blade is in very good condition save for some wear and black patina spots (mostly away from the etching near the point). Blade firm in hilt. The hilt with age / even patina is in good shape. The black faux fishskin grip mostly good but some wear patches; the twisted grip wire pretty good. The belts with age but in sound condition. The leather and brass fittings scabbard generally good but with some scuffs and tarnish. Medals good, ribbons a little frayed. The sword sheathes and draws well though there is a small gap between the scabbard and buffer when fully sheathed, most likely due to leather shrinkage. The folding guard section works well enough and locates onto the scabbard locking pin, just (due to leather shrinkage).

A great ensemble with plenty of research potential. A great buy at £700. Please quote item reference number AF63. Further / full sized pictures available upon request. Box 1149-101x19x16 (2.422).
