Made in the French state arms factory at Châtellerault in 1883 when the M1822 was revised (e.g. a single scabbard suspension ring) and became the M1822/1883.



The 34 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The brass hilt also very good, as is the original leather grip and associated twisted grip wire bindings. Period chemically browned steel scabbard in good condition; the sword sheathes and draws well.
