Napoleonic British Blue & Gilt Etched
Infantry Officer's Sword, sold |
In good condition, a Georgian / Napoleonic British 1786P Blue
& Gilt Etched Infantry Officer's Sword.

No maker's name, so probably sold by a military outfitter (retailer).
George III's royal cypher to a blade retaining approximately 70%
of its magnificent blue and gilt etching.

The 32 inch blade is in very good condition for its age with some
patina patches towards the point but not too many. Blade firm in
the hilt. The brass hilt in good order. The silver metal twisted
wire is complete and firm. The scabbard has lost length, so is shorter
than the blade, so the sword does not sheath fully.
This is a lot of blue and gilt etch on a good condition sword for
only £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference
number AF58 (1133). Further / full sized pictures available upon
request.
