Royal Naval Reserve officer swords are much scarcer then Royal Naval officer swords. This one has a George V cypher to the blade and is etched at the ricasso to "Miller & Sons, London & Southampton", which dates it from 1910 to 1916.

The 31 1/4 inch blade is in very good condition with well below average patina patches and firm in the hilt. The hilt with quite a bit of gilt remaining but has also blue brass tarnish which takes care to remove. The grip is good but some staining. The brass grip wires good but with blue tarnish. The sword knot good, a little grubby and some minor gilt strands are astray. The leather and gilt brass scabbard very good for age, gilt remaining, some scuffing to leather; the folding guard section of the hilt locates and holds the retaining pin on the top scabbard locket. The sword sheathes and draws well.
