The knights head denoting this as a diplomatic / consular court sword, rather than a regular / common court sword. We bought this along with two other of Geoffrey Rhodes Bromet’s swords; his senior RAF officer’s and IoM appreciation presentation swords. He bought it from the Army & Navy Store in London.

The 31 1/4 inch nicely etched blade is in very good condition, a few minor rust spots but not many / much. Blade firm in the hilt. The hilt good, the gilt with tarnish but could clean up with careful metal finishing polish. Twisted wire grip all good. The leather of the scabbard has kinks / cracks and is coming apart near the chape (black tape could effect a fairy decent repair). The sword sheathes and draws well.
True diplomatic swords like this are quite scarce, especially those like this one with original owner provenance. Nice price; £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference number AE98 (1039). Further / full sized pictures available upon request.
