George VI / WW2 British Royal Marine Officer's
Sword, Sold. |
In very good condition, a scarce George VI / WW2 British Royal
Marine Officer's Sword.

No maker's / retailer's name etched to the ricasso, which sort
of indicates early WW2. No leather field service scabbard, which
kind of indicates it was bought solely as a dress sword, as no Royal
Marine likely would have cause to wear a sword in battle dress.

The 32 3/8 inch blade is in very good condition, some small spots
(not many) and firm in the hilt. The hilt with light rusting to
the inside of the guard, the outside very good but for a couple
of tiny rust spots creeping in. The back piece with some rust. The
grip in very good condition but some of the grip wire is tarnished.
The plated steel scabbard has light rust patches and spots but is
good and sound. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Not many WW2 era Royal Marine swords around, especially in such
good condition. So best not wait; yours for £? (too late,
now sold). Please quote item reference AE77 (1013). Further / full
sized images available upon request.
