Sales enquiries

Bearing London (crowned leopard) hallmark with date letter t (for 1794) plus duty paid mark, the hilt of this sword is solid silver and was once a very fine sword indeed for a British army officer with a lot of status to maintain.

The 32 1/8 inch blade is overall good condition, a little curvature, some small light pitting patches, a steady patina, mostly firm in the grip, the hilt with a little movement. The solid silver hilt is good but with a lot of black tarnish (will clean up); the pommel with a little movement. The fluted cream ivory grip is mostly very good, some small age / wear cracks but a lot better than most.

A very good well above average example. A good sword at a great price, £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference U26 (0855). Further / full sized images upon request.
