1797 (Hallmarked) British Army Officer's
Silver Hilted Spadroon, Sold |
In sound (repaired) condition, a scarce late 18C (London Hallmarked
1797) British Army Officer's Silver Hilted Spadroon Sword.

Bearing London (crowned leopard) hallmark with date letter B (for
1797) and duty paid mark, the hilt of this sword is solid silver
and was once a very fine sword indeed for a British army officer
with a lot of status to maintain. It has both repairs and damage
(see below).

The 30 3/4 inch blade has a break line to both side, so the blade
has previously broken and been reforged. Blade with bending as a
result. Blade firm in the hilt. The solid silver hilt with some
bending but is overall good though with plenty of black tarnish.
The fluted ivory grip has some minor chips but is overall good.
A scarce sword once owned by a privileged / high society officer.
Well priced at £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item
reference U25 (0828). Further / full sized images upon request.
