Clipped/Hatchet Point French An XIII Cuirassier
Trooper's Sword, Sold |
In overall good condition, a rare clipped / hatchet point French
An XIII cuirassier trooper's sword.

Most An XIII's were modified; they had their blade points ground
down to become spear points. This is in its original form, with
the original clipped / hatchet point intact. Dated on the spine
to August 1814, the poinçons
correct for that date. No post 1815 markings indicate this is a
war trophy brought back to the UK after the Battle of Waterloo.
This is a guaranteed authentic An XIII. We
have written an article on these swords here.

The 38 1/4 inch blade is in good condition, just a little rusty
around the forte, firm in the hilt. The hilt is generally good,
some knocks, nothing too much. The grip has retained its original
leather and is generally good but for a little age damage around
the seam which has been glued. The original grip wire has gone.
There is no scabbard.
A rare hatchet / clipped point for only £? (too late, now
sold) . Please quote item reference U03 (0824). Further / full sized
images available upon request.
