Victorian British 5th Royal Irish Lancers
/ 13th Hussars Sword, Sold |
In very good condition, a Victorian British 5th Royal Irish Lancers
/ 13th Hussars named officer's Wilkinson Sword.

The sword of Frederick Percival Maryon Maryon-Wilson (born: 5th
March 1864 in Wyke Regis), serial number 26217 for January 14th,
1885. Lieutenant F P M Maryon-Wilson was commissioned into the 5th
Royal Irish Lancers on the 12th November 1884 but transferred to
the 13th Hussars shortly after. He also served in the 17th Lancers.
His initials and family crest are etched to the blade.

The 34 1/2 inch blade is well etched, etching still very clear,
and firm in the hilt. The period chemically browned (camouflaged)
hilt / guard is in good condition, some age. The fishskin grip with
some genuinely pleasing wear especially around the back piece which
shows the sword has been carried a lot. Silver metal twisted grip
wire in good order. The field steel scabbard has quite a few dings
but is very sound and has some chemical browning remaining. The
sword sheathes and draws very well.
Lovely sword, famous regiments, named officer! Yours for £?
