Early 20C British Raj Mounted Indian Trooper's
Sword, Sold |
In good condition, an early 20C British Raj Mounted Indian Trooper's
Sword.

A rare item; the badge is of the Bharatpur princely state and includes
Bharata Lipi Indian script, a typical British Lion, a short eared
(Asian) elephant and a pair of crossed katars (Indian hand punch
armour piercing daggers).

The 33 1/2 inch faintly etched blade (serial number "T. K.
No. 8" to spine) is in very good condition (it was covered
in very, very old and difficult to clean off grease) and firm in
the hilt. The hilt with some bending but is good. The leather or
faux leather grip has some holes, the grip wire is good and firm.
The steel scabbard in very good shape. The sword sheathes and draws
well.
This sword was clearly greased and bought back from India a long
time ago, but thanks to the grease is in very good order. A real
bargain (just try and find another), just £? (too late, now
sold) . Please quote item reference T86 (0792). Further / full sized
images available upon request.
