WW1 British Royal Artillery Officer's Presentation
Wilkinson Sword, Sold
In good to very good condition, a WW1 British Royal Artillery
Officer's Presentation Wilkinson Sword.
Etched "PRESENTED TO 2nd LIEUnt. C. PINE BY SOME OFFICERS
SCHOOL OF GUNNERY PAST AND PRESENT", C Pine appears on the
Army List in August 1915. The serial number on the spine, 48014,
is for 1915.
The 35 inch very well etched period sharpened blade is in very good
condition, with only some wear and patina spots, and firm in the
hilt. The hilt with some patina patches nut overall good. The fishskin
grip in very good condition, as are the twisted grip wire bindings.
The plated steel scabbard has some larger and deeper rust / patina
patches but is good and sound. The leather sword knot, a later addition,
is very good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
A very good and impressive sword that would be an excellent candidate
for having the hilt and scabbard refurbished to give you a collector's
dream. Come on, it is as cheap as chips at only £? (too late,
now sold). Please quote reference number T73 (0804). Further / full
sized images available upon request.
