ERII Welsh Infantry Officer's Sword, Sold |
In good condition, a highly unusual ERII Welsh Infantry Officer's
Sword etched to Wilkinson Sword.

A very unusual sword to say the least. 100% British infantry officer's
hilt / guard and grip, the blade looks and feels like a commemorative
Wilkinson blade, etched with traditional dress Welsh lad, daffodil
and leek (blank the other side). Having seen though never bought
commemorative swords, we suspect the blade was in fact made by Wilkinson
in their later years when they tried to find new markets to stay
in business. Sheathed, you would absolutely see this as an official
ERII infantry sword.

The 30 inch acid etched blade is in good condition but a little
loose in the hilt. The hilt / guard is aged / tarnished (would clean
/ shine up with a good metal polish) but sound. The grip very good,
as are the twisted grip wire bindings. The leather scabbard (believed
to be original to sword) has lost its chape / drag) is aged, weakening
and fading. The leather frog is good. The sword sheathes and draws
well.
An absolute must for any Welsh collector! Nid ire ew popeth melin.
