19th Century Hadramaut Gusbi Jambiya Dagger,
Sold |
In aged but sound condition, a 19th Century Hadramaut Gusbi Jambiya
Dagger.

A rare form of Jambiya is this Gusbi from Hadramaut, an arid coastal
area in the South of Yemen besides the Arabian Sea. This one has
a high silver content to the sheet metal work (see acid test below,
red = high silver content).
12 1/2 Inches overall, the 6 inch blade is in good order and firm
in the hilt. The rhino horn hilt with silver work detail in aged
but sound condition. The leather sheath with inset red stones /
glass is aged and has some old wire work support (this jambiya has
clearly been worn for many years). The jambiya sheathes and draws
well.
