WW1 German / Prussian M89 Horse Grenadiers
Officers Sword, SOLD |
In good overall condition, a WW1 German / Prussian M89 Horse Grenadiers
Officers Sword, folding guard version, for Grenadier-Regiment
zu Pferde Freiherr von Derfflinger (Neumärkisches) Nr. 3.

Etched to "Grenadier Regt Zu Pferde Frhr. v. Derfflinger (Neumark)
No.3" with cavalry figures to the obverse, this is a folding
guard version of the M89 which would have cost the officer more
than a solid guard version. Their
WW1 death toll.

The 33 1/8 inch blade is in good condition and firm in the hilt.
The hilt / guard is OK; the folding guard sections work but are
a little misaligned with use / age as is normal. The composite grip
is good. Steel scabbard has lost most original paint and has patina
in most areas, plus one tightening screw is missing, but is overall
good. The sword sheathes and draws well despite the missing screw.
A really nice enough example and at a decent enough price: £?
(too late, now sold). Please quote item reference T19 (0744). Further
/ full sized photos available upon request.
