Mid 19C Victorian British Constabulary (Police)
Sword, Sold |
In very good condition, a Mid 19C Victorian British Constabulary
(Police) Sword.

Engraved to the cross guard "(F) T Baker London". F T
Baker was a renowned gun maker in London who also originally supplied
swords from his address at 88 Fleet Street Stonley (1857 onwards).

The 23 5/8 inch blade is in good condition and firm in the hilt.
The hilt / guard is also good with locking pin mechanism working
well. Fishskin grip in good order, as are the twisted grip wire
bindings, though they may be a later replacement. Leather scabbard
with brass fittings in good shape; the leather a little aged (cracking).
The sword sheathes and draws well, and the scabbard locks onto the
sword as it should.
A well above average example for just £? (too late, now
sold) . Please quote item reference T14 (0745). Further / full sized
photos available upon request.
