Clearly a campaign sword as it has a leather (not fishskin) grip and was period sharpened.

The 32 3/4 inch blade has the remains of its once magnificent blue and gilt etching still remaining under the langets. The blade itself has some quite heavy pitting towards the point. Blade firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard is in good condition. Original leather grip is in good but a little worn condition. especially worn towards the front with one side the first turn of leather is gone. The twisted grip wire is very good for its age, some looseness. The steel scabbard overall good with some lighter pitting. The sabre sheathes and draws fairly well, a little loosely.

A really evocative piece given it is a Napoleonic campaign sabre. Priced well below market value. £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference S99 (0720). Further / full sized images available upon request.
