The 34 1/2 inch blade is in good order but has many old if not period nicks to the cutting edge especially; it is impossible to tell if they are all period, but they may well be. The blade is firm in the hilt. The brass hilt / guard with many small dents, etc. The grips are good, the leather original and mostly complete, the "olives" present and firm. The heavy steel / iron scabbard is sound but with quite a bit of medium pitting towards the chape especially. The sabre sheathes and draws well. There are no post 1815 inspection marks, plus we bought it in the UK from an estate sale, so absolutely a Waterloo trophy bring back. The blade poinçons are for Krantz, Bick and Lobstein, which are 100% correct for the date inscription on the spine for February 1813.

Oh, if only this sabre could recount its past! Enjoy owning and holding it for the genuinely bargain price of £? (too late, now sold) (this is what they sell for at auction PLUS buyer's commission / premium). Please quote item reference S49 (0659). Further / full sized images available upon request.
