You can read a little about Frank Pollard Ellis, R.N by
clicking here. The sword is etched to Gieves (made by Wilkinson
Sword) and has been replated at some stage (believed during its
service life), so the etching is feint. Folding guard engraved "F
P Ellis".

The 31 2/4 inch blade is in good condition, etching feint, some
small patina / inert rust spots, and firm in the hilt. Folding guard
section of hilt works if a little stiff. Hilt generally very good
with gilt remaining. Fishskin grip also very good, as are the twisted
grip wire bindings. Sword knot with some minor wear / staining but
still very good. Scabbard good and locates properly with folding
guard section. Sword sheathes and draws well. Original belts in
good order. All weather bag aged and cracking but sound.
Nice example, good officer, low price; £? (too late, no sold).
