George V (1927) British Rifle Officer's Wilkinson
Sword, For Sale |
In overall good condition, a George V British Rifle Officer's
Wilkinson Sword, owners initials.

Serial number 60885 for 1927, with initials "F. W. M. L."
to blade. The Wilkinson ledger has an entry that appears to be for
a Cumming of the KRR (Kings Royal Rifles), probably Lt. M. E. D.
Cumming. Trouble is, we have no idea who F W M L could therefore
be.

The 32 1/3 inch blade is overall good, but with patina / inert
rust small patches, firm in the hilt. The hilt with wear / slight
damage / chips to ends / inert rust spots. The fishskin grip is
aged / faded but good, as are the twisted grip wire bindings. The
leather scabbard with age but overall good. Remains of sword knot.
The sword sheathes and draws well.
Nice sword with tons of research potential. Bargain, just £450.
