Late 18C English Blue & Gilt Smallsword,
90% Etch Remaining, Sold |
In good condition (the blade very good) but with shell guard missing
(replacements available online), a late 18C English Blue & Gilt
small sword, 90% Etch Remaining.

Please note: the shell guard and a couple of "divits"
are missing, but the blade is so exceptional, it is well worth taking
the time and trouble to getting reproduction / replacement parts.
There are specialist companies out there for this, including Jacobs
Armoury.

The 30 1/8 inch colichemarde blade is exceptionally well blue and
gilt etched, a little rust towards to the tip well away from the
etching. The hilt is lose with shell guard and a couple of divits
missing; this is a version of small sword that had no crossguard
(the chain is the "guard"). The scabbard also has an issue
in that the chape falls off, but the scabbard should be an easy
enough repair for anyone.
A great blade with a lot of the hilt area remaining, enough to
hopefully turn into a gem; £? (too late, now sold). Please
quote item reference S30 (0621). Further / full sized images available
upon request.
