19C Ottoman Zeibek T shaped pommel Yataghan, sold

In aged though sound / good condition, a rare 19C Ottoman Smyrna / Ionian Coast Zeibek T shaped pommel Yataghan.

A rare Zeibek T shaped pommel Ottoman Yataghan. The blade has some traces of red and a lot of engraving (with some gold remaining). The hilt has been crudely repaired and then either painted or other coating / mastic applied. We suspect the repair is glue and probably be fairly easily improved.

The 73 cm blade is generally good, though only a little gold embossing remaining. Blade firm in the hilt. The hilt with repairs.
