WW2 Japanese Army Officer's Katana with Inscription, Sold

In good condition, a rare WW2 Japanese Army Officer's Katana (shin gunto) with Battle Talisman Inscription "Fragrant Ghost".

I understand "Fragrant Ghost" is a wish of a good death to those who fall at the hands of the sword. The blade itself os unsigned and appears to have some Gendaito characteristics, but it is very hard to tell given the wear / poor polish to the blade. The sword is therefore being sold as Showato.

The 27 inch Nagasa (cutting edge section) blade is very sound / in good condition, but with age / stains. Overall the gunto i in good order, some fraying to the ito, the leather of the saya aged (saya is simple wooden type). The sword sheathes and draws well.

Nice interesting world war two katana with that inscription; further research deserving. Nice price; £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference Q63 (0405). Further / full sized images available upon request.
