1899 Pattern British Cavalry Trooper's Wilkinson
In good condition, an 1899 Pattern British Cavalry Trooper's Wilkinson
This appears to be a marriage (the scabbard is not original to
the sword). The sword itself is marked to the Royal (Horse) Artillery
(dated November 1900, so it may well have seen service in the Boer
War, while the scabbard appears to be for a Volunteer Sussex artillery
The 32 1/4 inch blade has a slightly rounded tip indicating it
was used as a practice weapon later in its service life. Blade is
firm in the hilt. The browned hilt / guard generally good, as are
the grip scales. The browned (camouflaged) steel scabbard is good.
The sword sheathes and draws well.
Nice example of this Boer War era sword. A bargain; £? (too
late, now sold)! Please quote item reference Q53 (0371). Further
/ full sized images available upon request.
