ERII Seaforth Highlander Officer's Basket
Hilted Broadsword, Sold |
In very good condition, an ERII Queen's Own Highlanders / Seaforth
Highlander Officer's Basket Hilted Broadsword.
No maker's name but very well etched. Not quite parade ground condition
but it possibly could be with a little TLC. The badge is for the
combined Queen's Own Highlanders (Seaforth and Camerons) (post 1961)
but we bought it from the original owner / officer who stated he
served with the Seaforth Higlanders.
The 32 inch blade in good condition, the grey etch still very good,
some wear / scabbard scuffing, some brown light spotting around
the point end of the etch, firm in the hilt. The hilt generally
very good with a slight light age speckling (a good metal finishing
polish such as Simichrome would probably work well). Faux fishskin
grip in overall good condition, the twisted grip wire bindings good.
The scarlet tassel in good order, the guard liner a little aged
with the Royal Blue edgings a bit faded. The plated steel scabbard
in good shape, some light speckling (again, some TLC with a metal
finishing cream would probably improve). The sword sheathes and
draws well, if a little tightly.
Just find another! A very nice sword for only £? (too late,
now sold). Please quote item reference P78 (0255). Further / full
sized images available upon request.
