French 1821 Model Infantry Officer's Sword, Sold

In good overall condition, a French 1821 Model infantry officer's sword, made by Klingenthal Coulaux & Cie in 1838.

French 1821 Model Infantry Officer's Swordimage P37 1

Sold Item Notice

The blade's spine has been rubbed down so only a tiny amount of the original "Manuf're Klingenthal Coulaux & Cie" inscription remains, but the "B under crown" and "G within frilled circle poinçons" confirm this was made by them and dates the sword to 1838.

The 29 5/8 inch blade is in good condition and firm in the hilt. The hilt mostly good. The hardwood grip has some chips / loss and is faded, the twisted grip wire is still there and good. The leather and metal fittings scabbard is fairly good. The sword sheathes and draws well.

A good example at a nice price; £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference P37 (0218). Further / full sized images available upon request.
