The original black leather sword knot shows this sword was a rifle officer's (from within an infantry regiment). Ricasso famously etched "To the Queen Hawkes & Co Piccadilly London". This sword most likely made for Hawkes by Wilkinson Sword.

The 32 1/4 inch blade is in very good condition, some light patina patches mostly towards the point. Blade firm in hilt. The steel hilt / guard in very good shape. The fishskin and twisted grip wire are both good. The field leather scabbard with steel fittings in good order. The sword sheathes and draws very well, nicely firming towards being fully sheathed.

This really is an exceptionally good sword in well above average condition. Worth every penny of £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference P35 (0256). Further / full sized images available upon request.
