Victorian British Royal Naval Reserve Officer's Sword

Sales enquiries

Actually a scarce item, much rarer than the standard Royal Naval officer's sword, this a grey etched Victorian Royal Navy Reserve officer's sword.

The 31 Inch blade is well etched, though with some rust patches, and firm in the hilt. Ricasso etched to "S W Silver" of 67 Cornhill London (a sword cutler) dating the sword to circa 1900. The hilt generally good, some gilt remaining, the folding guard section works well. The fishskin grip and twisted grip wire bindings in good condition. The leather and brass (once gilted) scabbard is aged, but still sound and good. The sword sheathes and draws well. The scabbard locking mechanism works fine.

Scarce sword in above average condition at a below market price of just £(sale value available for small fee). Further / full sized images upon request. Item ref O74 (1388)
