1908P WW1 British Royal Dragoons Troopers
Sword, Sold |
In good overall condition, a WW1 British Royal Dragoon trooper's
sword, dated 1915.

The Royal Dragoons are one of the most prestigious names in British
cavalry. In WW1 they served on the Western Front. The sword is marked
"1 R D" on the inside of the bowl guard. The EFD made
sword is also later marked to the Lincolnshire Yeomanry, as is the
scabbard, which is not original to the sword (though also dated
1915); it is clear this marriage of the two happened while at the
Lincolnshire Yeomanry (a common event). So the scabbard may well
have served with another famous British cavalry regiment during
WW1; in any event, they both fit each other well.

The 34 3/4 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the
hilt. The hilt / guard is battered and aged, but still very sound.
The grip with some slight damage is overall in good condition; everything
firm. The steel scabbard is in good condition. The sword sheathes
and draws well.
If only swords could talk! Yours for only £? (too late, now
sold). Please quote item reference O34 (1364). Further / full sized
pictures available upon request.
