Sales enquiries

The pommel and cross bar finales are those for the Seaforth and Argyll & Sutherland Highlander Regiments. The stamped (rather than brass lug insert) "proved" mark speaks of circa 1917 manufacture, when quantity in terms of weapons and officers were as important as overall quality (and this is a quality sword, for sure). Made by Fenton Brothers Ltd Sheffield, Sword Cutlers to the War Office.

The 32 inch etched blade is in very good condition, some staining light surface rust (now stabilized), but will probably clean up (use green nylon pad and oil). Blade firm in hilt. The hilt and grip all very good. Leather field scabbard good generally but has lost its metal end fitting (chape). Sword sheathes and draws well.

A well above average example for only £? (too late, now sold - original sales price divulged for small fee). Please quote item reference number N69 (1329). Full sized / additional photos available upon request.
