WW2 Japanese Army NCO's Shin Gunto Katana,
A guaranteed authentic World War Two Japanese Non-Commissioned
Officer's shin gunto katana in very good condition.
With the remains of the sword knot, indicating this sword was taken
from a Japanese NCO, not a surrender weapon after Japan capitulated,
this shin gunto katana is in good condition. Unusually, the scabbard
/ saya does not have a serial number, but is clearly authentic and
original to the sword. We guarantee this item is 100% authentic,
not one of the many reproductions falsely sold as real.
The 26 1/4 inch blade is in good condition, having been period
sharpened (and done well, not like many). Good amounts of the original
paint still exist to the tsuka (grip). Serial number 53992 shows
this is an early war sword. As the grip is not worn too much, and
as the sword know was still attached, we suspect this was carried
by a Japanese Army POW guard in Malaysia, Burma or Singapore. Saya
/ scabbard in good condition with much original paint remaining.
The sword sheathes and draws well.
