Boer War Era British Royal Horse Artillery Named Officer's Sword, Sold

In good condition, a browned (camouflaged) Boer War era British RHA officer's sword, etched with the officer's name.

Boer War Era / Browned British Royal Horse Artillery Named Officer's Swordimage N48 1

Sold Item Notice

The hilt / guard has been "cleaned" but the scabbard is still browned (this is not rust / patina, but rather the chemical browning used to camouflage steel scabbards, typically during the Boer War). The blade is etched with the officer's name, "J Hay".

The 32 1/4 inch blade is in good condition, but with some rubbing / wear; it has been period sharpened (not so sharp now) and is firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard has aged, though the grip is in good condition for its age still. The scabbard is in good shape. The sword sheathes and draws well.

An un researched sword, with bags of potential, for just £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference N48 (1337). Further / full sized images available upon request.
