WW2 / George VI British Royal Corps Signals Officer's Sword, sold

In very good overall condition, a George VI Royal Signals Corps presentation sword to Lieutenant Ernest Stanley Butcher who died a Captain on 02/09/1945. Now with 20% discount.

It appears, though we are not sure, that then Captain Ernest Stanley Butcher dies in Malaysia in 1945 at the very end of WW2. This sword is etched to him thus; "Presented to E. S. Butcher. By the officers Royal Signals, on the occasion of his promotion to Lieutenant". We understand he was a Inspector of Permanent Communications.

The 33 inch blade is in very good condition, some patina patches here and there but not many, the etching still very clear, and firm in the hilt. The hilt in very good order, some aging, the grip good as are the associated twisted grip wire bindings. The leather field service scabbard is in very good condition. The sword is a little tight when full sheathed.
