WW1 British Royal Artillery Officer's Wilkinson Sword

Sales enquiries

Serial number 56392 for 1918 (the serial number is probably researchable on the Wilkinson sales ledger). In very good condition, a very well made WW1 British Royal Artillery officer's Wilkinson sword.

The 34 1/2 inch well etched blade has some patina spots, but not many, and is in superb condition generally. With Wilkinson logo plus British royal coat of arms and Royal Artillery thunderbolt insignia, the blade is as impressive as it is long. Blade firm in the hilt, the plated hilt in exceptionally good condition; again, some odd patina spots but not many. The fishskin grip is very good, though with wear, so the sword was clearly held a lot. The twisted grip wire bindings are also good, one slightly wayward lesser strand, again through the sword having been held. The leather field service scabbard in good condition, though with signs of wear. The sword sheathes and draws very well.

The Wilkinson sales ledger can be researched for the original owner details for only £10; we have not enquired but it may be worth the eventual buyer to do so.

A great example. Please quote item reference number J61 (1148). Further / full sized pictures available upon request.
