In very good condition, a Shinto period Japanese Wakizashi, unsigned, probably Musashi Province.

Shinto Period Japanese Wakizashi, Ko-Gunome-Midare Ha Hamon, Mokume Grain

Sales enquiries

The Ko-Gunome-Midare Ha Hamon evident mostly one side of the blade is very energetic. There is also a good small mokune grain, indicating the blade is from a smith of the Nagasone School in Musashi Province, circa 1650-1700. Some scuffing, but the blade is in a reasonable state of polish, again, especially one side.

The 16 3/4 inch blade is in good condition, no visible flaws or nicks, the grain and hamon very clear in most areas. The "Furniture" including "cat scratch" habaki is very good, high quality, in very good condition. The kodzuka (knife) is included.

A lovely sword. Please quote item reference I71 (1083). Further / full sized images available upon request.
