WW1 / George V Fenton Brothers British Infantry
Officer's Sword, sold
In very good condition, a quality Fenton Brothers of Sheffield
WW1 British infantry officer's sword.
Complete with leather sword knot, field service scabbard, suspension
frog, belt and straps, this is a high quality Fenton Brothers (makers
to the War Office) British infantry officer's sword.
The 32 5/8 inch well etched blade is in good condition with some
patina spots, but not too many, and is firm in the hilt. The steel
hilt is in good order, very dark patina / tarnishing to the inside
bowl. The fishskin grip and associated twisted grip wire bindings
are also good. The leather scabbard has a replacement modified chape
/ drag, possibly period and is in good condition. The sword sheathes
and draws well. The leather knot, belt, suspension frog and straps
are all in good order. It is nice to get a complete set like this.
