Prussian 19C Artillery NCO's Sword, 25th
A rare mid to late 19th Century Prussian Artillery NCO's sword,
in generally good condition.
It is rare to come across this pattern / model of sword. It is
good enough to be an officer's sword but the old type regimental
markings "25 A A 1" show this was a state / regiment owned
sword provided to a Prussian non-commissioned officer. The marking
mean "25th Artillery Regiment, A Troop, Weapon 1", so
you can take it from that, the NCO was an important member of the
regiment. The well etched blade bears the Prussian Eagle plus the
Royal Cypher of Kaiser William I. The sword was made by Clemen &
Jung of Solingen.
This sword would almost certainly have been present during action
in both the Austro-Prussian and Franco-Prussian Wars.
The well etched 33 1/4 inch blade is in very good condition for
its age and firm in the hilt. The superb hilt is in very good order.
The grip has lost its leather cover but is still good. The scabbard
with a small ding one side and aged but overall good. The sword
sheaths and draws very well.
A superb example and a great investment. Please quote item reference
