1950's Communist Chinese Army Sabre, sold
In good condition, an authentic Communist Chinese military / army
This has to be the most ironic sabre in history; a) the Chinese
modeled it on the 18895 model Japanese cavalry officer's sabre,
which was used as a Japanese police sabre in WW2, and b) there are
tons of this model of sword available on the market from China,
but they are all reproductions; we have never seen / heard anything
so funny regarding swords, the Chinese do not even sell authentic
examples of their own swords! Anyway, modern reproductions aside,
this is actually a scarce and attractive sabre.
The 31 inch blade with serial number is in good condition and firm
in the hilt. The painted steel hilt and plastic grip are equally
good, though worn. The bicolour scabbard is in good shape, a little
aged and worn. The sword sheathes and draws well.
