Sales enquiries

The blade is in very good condition and has been period sharpened, increasing the likelihood this sword saw active duty or even combat. We have the original Wilkinson sales ledger entry for this sword, and it is looks like it was originally owned by a W. G. Lawrells, though the hand writing is not too clear (see further below).

The impressive 34 1/2 inch blade is in good condition and firm in the hilt. The steel 3-bar hilt has a solid patina with some former light pitting. The fishskin grip and associated grip wire bindings are in good order, a little worn, the top section of fishskin under the pommel is gone as is quite common for a sword that has been used (as this is where the hardest wear occurs). The steel scabbard is dinged and dented, but sound. The sword sheathes and draws fairly well.

What a great sword! Please quote item reference number F43 (903). Further / full sized pictures available upon request.
