1885P Fife and Forfar Light Horse Cavalry
Trooper's Sword, Sold
In very good condition, a superb Robert Mole made and etched 1885
pattern light cavalry trooper's sabre / sword, marked to the Fife
and Forfar Light Horse Cavalry with marks to November 1896.
A superb quality example of the 1885P British cavalry trooper sword
by Mole, marked to an elite Yeomanry regiment and which more than
likely was taken and used during the Boer War with the then 20th
(Fife and Forfar) Company Imperial Yeomanry.
The 34 1/2 inch blade is in excellent condition, with the Robert
Mole Birmingham etched "tablet" and several War Department
marks, dating the sword originally to July 1889. the scabbard with
the latest date mark of November 1896.
The blade is firm in the hilt, the hilt in excellent condition,
the grip also in very good condition. Equally the scabbard is very
good, and of course the sword sheathes and draws very well. A truly
well above if not a gem of an example. Additional / full sized images
