1630-1640 Scottish Infantry Basket Hilted
Backsword, sold |
In very good condition for its age, an exceptionally rare 1630-1640
Scottish infantry basket hilt backsword, blade marked Andria Farara.

An exceptionally rare "McAllister" type hilted Scottish
backsword, circa 1630-1640. The typical period multi-fullered blade
with feint remnants of the markings "Andria Farara" (or
possibly one of the spelling variations thereof).

The34 inch blade is very aged yet still exceptionally strong and
in very good shape for its age. The blade is firm in the hilt, the
hilt with some period damage, as should be expected. The leather
grip is a later replacement, the twisted grip wire bindings may
be original (replaced after regripping).
In any event, try and find another and then you will know that our
price represents a very good investment opportunity indeed, not
to mention the chance of owning and holding such a rare old backsword.
