Rare French 1890 Model Cavalry Trooper's Sword, sold

In very good condition, a rare proposed model for the French light cavalry, circa 1890.

This is a rare sword, with the slender slightly pipe-backed straight blade which was being proposed for French cavalry swords, circa 1890. Based on the 1822 pattern hilt. Unmarked 35 inch blade in good condition, some bending near the tip area. Blade firm in the hilt. Beautiful guard. Walnut grip has lost its twisted grip wires. Painted black scabbard, single suspension loop. Sword sheathes and draws well. It may well be that some of these swords were issued but, in any event, it is a rarity.
