17th Century Ottoman Yataghan with Abduhu
Armourer's Mark, sold
With later hilt repair but in sound condition, a Walrus ivory
hilted 17C Ottoman yataghan with the famous Abduhu armourer's mark.
A nice example in that it bears the armourer Abduhu's mark to the
blade (see Plate 1 of Islamic Armourers and Their Works by L. A.
Mayer), this Ottoman yataghan has had some hilt repair as is quite
common, and the fine wire bindings are a little astray, but this
is a very old sword.
60.5 cm blade, some very slight curvature, firm in the hilt. Excellent
value. Further / full sized pictures available upon request. Please
quote item reference number D79(761).
