WW2 Canadian Airborne / US Marine Raiders
Stiletto, sold |
An exceptionally rare alloy hilted Allied commando knife, made
in the form of a US Marine Raider's stiletto, most likely made for
a US Marine or Canadian Airborne officer.

This is one of the rarest WW2 Allied commando knives you can hope
to own. An alloy hilted commando knife made in the style of the
US marine raider's stiletto, this one blackened "parkerized",
so almost certainly for a Canadian Airborne officer. The knives
were believed to be private purchase items but they are so rare
that very little is known about them (you
can read something about them here). This one clearly saw active
service as the leather sheaf has a period metal protector added;
this was to prevent the knife from wounding the wearer. The 6 1/2
inch blade is in good condition, the point a little rounded which
suggests period damage / use. Unlike the Camillus made USA marine
raider's stiletto which deteriorated with age, the hilt on this
knife is sound and solid. I doubt we will ever see one again, so
the price has to be a bargain at only £? (too late, now sold).
